Estimated Domestic Brewer Production:
Unofficial national brewer production indicates an decrease of -1.0% in taxable removals of 13,100,000 barrels in December 2009 compared to 13,226,100 barrels in December 2008. Domestic taxable removals (also know as Tax Paid Removals) measure the amount of beer shipped from domestic brewers to distributors within the U.S. market.

Imports of Malt Beverages:
The United States Department of Commerce reports total imports of malt beverages from all countries for the month of November 2009 at 1,811,383 compared to November 2008 total barrels of 2,168,618.

Exports of Malt Beverages:
The United States Department of Commerce reports total commercial exports of malt beverages to all countries for the month of November 2009 at 373,865 barrels compared to November 2008 commercial exports of 286,170 barrels.  This figure does not include shipments to military posts overseas or shipments to Puerto Rico and other US territories.

State-by-State Shipments:
The State-by-State Beer Shipments Estimate for October 2009 decreased -5.0% from October 2008Shipment data represents shipments from brewers to wholesalers (including imports) within the state or entire U.S. and is the best available proxy for “consumption.”  The State-by-State Beer Shipments Estimate is the cumulative total of all states.  The year-to-date figures are based upon a combination of state shipment data already received and estimates for data not yet received.

CPI- Beer, Ale and Other Malt Beverages at Home:
This Consumer Price Index measures the inflation of prices for beer, ale and other malt beverages at home over the selected time series indexed to the base period of 1982-1984 CPI=100.  Price of beer, ale and other malt beverage prices home is indicated as a percentage relative to the base period. YTD measures the average CPI for the time series YTD.
