Beer Institute Releases July 2020 Domestic Tax Paid Estimate

WASHINGTON – Today, the Beer Institute published an unofficial estimate of domestic tax paid shipments by beer brewers for July 2020: The July 2020 estimate is 15,100,000 barrels, an increase of 1.9% vs. July 2019 removals of 14,820,000. The Beer Institute estimates for March 2020, April 2020, May 2020, June 2020, and July 2020 will be revised moving forward as TTB Industry Circular 2020-2 postponed for up to 90 days reporting requirements for filing and payment due dates on or before June 30, 2020.

Beer Institute and Brewers Association file comments highlighting scientific and procedural inconsistencies in Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee moderate alcohol consumption guidelines recommendations

WASHINGTON – Today, the Beer Institute and the Brewers Association filed written comments with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) highlighting numerous scientific and procedural issues that undermine the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee’s recommendation to halve the moderate alcohol consumption guidelines for men. “For three decades, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans have defined moderate alcohol consumption as up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men.
