Jason Champoux embodies excellence in leadership, innovation and commitment to the hop and beer industries. Raised on a fourth-generation hop farm, and with more than two decades of leadership in the packaging and tree fruit industries, Jason’s connection to the land and passion for hops run deep.
As vice president of crop production at Yakima Chief Ranches, Jason plays a critical role within the integrated Yakima Chief supply chain—from hop breeding to supplying virus-free planting material to growers.
He has been instrumental in guiding the grower services team. He led the organization and its growers through a strategic acreage reduction to realign supply and demand in the hop market. Jason’s thoughtful leadership, clear communication and ability to balance short-term challenges with long-term sustainability ensured Yakima Chief Hops (YCH) emerged stronger and more resilient.
His work reflects Yakima Chief Ranches’ vision of producing an optimized supply of hops using fewer resources—land, water and chemicals—and supporting growers and brewers globally.
His technical expertise and collaborative approach mean he leads by example, cultivating trust and respect while empowering colleagues to succeed. He is an advocate for the entire hop industry, championing responsible growth and sustainable practices.
Jason is deeply committed to his family and community, spending his free time outdoors, fishing and cheering on WSU Cougar football. His professional dedication and personal authenticity resonate with colleagues and industry peers alike.
