Mike Sutton, Vice President, Craft Brewery Sales at Hopsteiner, was honored with a Best in Brew Honors 2025 award.
Mike Sutton, vice president of sales at Hopsteiner USA (S.S. Steiner, Inc.), leads the company’s sales and technical support for the craft brewing industry. Since founding the craft sales division in 2006, he has built a dedicated team and infrastructure to support the industry’s rapid growth.
Over the years, Mike has collaborated with hundreds of craft breweries to create new beverages, optimize hop sourcing, improve product quality, enhance processing efficiency and reduce costs.
In 2020, he and his team launched the Hoppy Topics webinar series, providing a global platform for brewer engagement during the COVID-19 lockdown. Before his current role, Mike served as general manager of S.S. Steiner’s hop processing operations in Yakima, Washington. He has been with the company for 21 years.
Mike’s career spans more than 46 years in brewing operations and technical roles at Miller Brewing Co., Coors Brewing Co. (now Molson Coors Beverage Co.), Froedtert Malt Corp. (now Malteurop NA) and S.S. Steiner. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Salisbury University and a Diploma in Brewing Technology from the Siebel Institute.
An active member of the MBAA, Mike has held numerous leadership roles, including national president in 2012. He was named an Honorary Life Member and received the MBAA Distinguished Life Service Award in 2017. Since 2018, he has been a regular lecturer on hops and hop products at the MBAA Brewing & Malting Science Course.
