Beer Institute Honors Dan Tearno with Jeff Becker Beer Industry Service Award

Former HEINEKEN USA SVP has Spent More than 30 Years Advocating for Beer

NEW YORK – The Beer Institute awarded longtime Heineken executive Dan Tearno the 2012 Jeff Becker Beer Industry Service Award for his record of dedication, service and leadership on behalf of brewers and importers.

Tearno, currently a consultant and senior policy advisor to HEINEKEN USA, spent 16 years as the company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Relations Officer. Tearno’s career advocating for the beer industry spans more than 30 years and began with the position of Northeast Government Affairs Manager at Miller Brewing Co. in 1981. He also served as Director of Federal Government Affairs at Miller and Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Molson Breweries USA, then a Miller subsidiary.

“Dan not only served his companies but he served all brewers with his commitment to improving the perception of beer,” said Joe McClain, president of the Beer Institute, which recognized Dan during its annual meeting Tuesday in New York City.

“Dan’s leadership and passion are well known throughout the industry, and inspire everyone he comes in contact with to challenge themselves and improve. He has been a constant presence, providing wisdom and guidance based upon his dedication for the industry and passion for beer,” McClain said.

“During his time at Heineken, Dan pioneered a number of industry firsts including placing responsible consumption messaging on our company’s product advertising and packaging,” said Heineken USA president and CEO Dolf van den Brink. “He has been a trailblazer in the beer industry for more than three decades. We congratulate Dan on this tremendous honor.”
