BEER INSTITUTE RELEASES JUNE 2018 DOMESTIC TAX PAID ESTIMATE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Beer Institute published an unofficial estimate of domestic tax paid shipments by beer brewers for June 2018: The June 2018 estimate is 16,327,000 barrels, a decrease of 3.8% vs. June 2017 removals of 16,970,000. Please note that the estimates reflect revised estimates released by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Beer Institute published an unofficial estimate of domestic tax paid shipments by beer brewers for May 2018: The May 2018 estimate is 15,269,000 barrels, a decrease of 6.4% vs. May 2017 removals of 16,309,000. Beer Institute Honors Tim Scully with Jeff Becker Beer Industry Service Award

MILWAUKEE – Today, the Beer Institute awarded Tim Scully, Vice President of Government Affairs at MillerCoors, with the 2018 Jeff Becker Beer Industry Service Award for his leadership and dedication in the beer industry and America’s beer drinkers. Beer Institute requests Department of Commerce address anticompetitive activities driving increases in aluminum prices

WASHINGTON, DC — In comments filed with the Department of Commerce regarding the recently implemented tariff on imported aluminum, the Beer Institute requested that the Department work with the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission to address potentially anticompetitive activities in the aluminum market that are driving up aluminum prices.

Beer Institute Lauds Inclusion of Calories on Menus in Chain Restaurants

WASHINGTON, DC – Effective May 7, 2018, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is requiring chain restaurants disclose calories and other nutrition information for standard menu items on menus and menu boards, including beer. In August 2017, the Beer Institute filed comments with the FDA supporting the requirement that restaurants list the calories for each individual brand of beer, glass or bottle of wine and each mixed drink made with hard liquor listed on an alcohol drink menu.
