BEER INSTITUTE RELEASES FEBRUARY 2018 DOMESTIC TAX PAID ESTIMATE

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Beer Institute published an unofficial estimate of domestic tax paid shipments by beer brewers for February 2018: The February 2018 estimate is 11,202,000 barrels, a decrease of 3.4% versus February 2017 removals of 11,602,000. Please note that the estimates reflect revised estimates released by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

Beer Institute Names Ramsey Cox, Director Media Relations and Public Affairs

Beer Institute asks President Trump to provide exemption for imported aluminum used to make beer cans

Jim McGreevy, Beer Institute President and CEO, released the following statement after President Trump signed an executive order imposing a 10% tariff on imported aluminum: ”This tariff on aluminum will hurt American breweries and beer importers that are employing Americans and producing beer, America’s most popular alcohol beverage. Our nation’s more than 5,000 active breweries are supporting more than 2.2 million jobs and helping to pour more than $350 billion into our national economy.

Beer Institute condemns Department of Commerce’s aluminum tariff recommendations

 Jim McGreevy, Beer Institute President and CEO, released the following statement on the Department of Commerce’s recommendations contained in the Section 232 National Security Investigation of Imports of Aluminum report: “It is disheartening that Secretary Ross did not recommend to President Trump excluding primary aluminum and cansheet from tariffs and other import restrictions in the Department of Commerce’s 232 report. Additionally, we are concerned that the secretary seems to have minimized the multiple concerns that downstream aluminum users have raised.

Food and beverage industry urges President Trump not to impose tariffs on cansheet and primary aluminum

WASHINGTON, DC—In light of the Commerce Department submitting to the White House the results of its 232 investigation examining the national security impacts of aluminum imports, CEOs from some of America’s leading food and beverage companies and trade associations joined the American Beverage Association, Beer Institute, and Can Manufacturers Institute today in sending a letter to President Donald J. Trump requesting that he refrain from imposing tariffs or import restrictions on cansheet, primary aluminum, and scrap.

Please note that the estimates reflect revised estimates released by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

Beer Institute Names Dan Roth, Senior Director of Public Affairs

WASHINGTON, DC – The Beer Institute, one of the nation’s oldest trade associations representing America’s brewers, beer importers and industry suppliers, announced today that Beer Institute communications director Dan Roth has been promoted to serve as the trade association’s senior director of public affairs. Roth joined the Beer Institute in May 2016 as its communications director where he was instrumental in working on successful efforts to provide federal excise tax relief to brewers and beer importers.
